These sails look remarkably colourful thanks to another advantage of this material - it is perfectly (and stably) coloured in any colours. You may find a few used laminated sails on the second-hand market place but theyre not as common as dacron. Due to the wider grid pattern, this material weighs less than our previous x-ply film, thus reducing the sails overall weight. They are slightly heavier than the pure string sails because of the extra layer of Mylar that the load path yarns are laminated with, but are coming in about the same weight as a triradial sail. This is mainly due to its durable and lightweight properties and the fact that it is the most affordable option. Available in cross-cut or radial constructions. That central fiber can be one of many; polyester, Technora or carbon.
